Just got back from ‘the city’ aka SF aka San Francisco. My family too me to see the Degas sculpture exhibit. Wow. That man was a genius! OMG! Some might say that the ladies he sculpted were ‘fat’ I think they need their heads examined. Now the ladies are not ’slight’ but they are most certainly not fat. And they are so elegant! w00t! (heh I’ll bet Degas never thought that someone would say ‘w00t’ about his art work) I know Degas is famous for his paintings but his sculpture is so worth seeing. It is on display at the Legion of Honor. Go go look! Stand there and be amazed!

Then we went to lunch. The restaurant we wanted was over full so we went next door. Now I have a little thing I call the ‘golden rule’, it’s not the classic one. This is about asian restaurant. It goes like this: If the restaurant has the word ‘Golden’ in it beware it may not be so golden. I have now found 2 exception to this ‘rule’. The second was the restaurant this afternoon. I cannot remember the name right now but I’ll ask my Dad about it later. The food there is really good! And reasonably priced! Parking can be a pain in the butt but it’s worth a little walking.

Well I’m sure some of you are wondering just where the heck my comic is? I’m wondering that myself. The holidays didn’t go exactly as I had planned and so I will probably postpone the major activity till after new years. Please stay tuned true believers. More and better hopefully soon.

It’s Sunday (or at least it was when I started this entry) and for me that means church service. I went to the early service today which was a change of pace. Also there was no class which also meant that we were done really early. But it gave me a chance to go to brunch with my aunt who is visiting from Texas, and my grandparents. That was nice. It is fun to relax with family. I count myself very fortunate that I can do that. It’s not everyone that has that sort of relationship with their family. But as far as I can tell that’s what the whole Holidays is supposed to be about. It is also a time to be with friends, last night I was over at my friend’s house and we were up to about 1 a.m. playing games! w00t!

We played a new FPS (First Person Shooter). It’s called Fire Warrior. It is based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe of the Games Workshop game by the same name. It’s actually a whole lot of fun even in 4 player mode. It also really gives you a much greater feel for how lethal the weapons in the table top strategy game are supposed to be. It is named after the basic troop type from one of the new races introduced in the 3rd edition of the game, the Tau! They are another highly advanced alien race. They are kinda like a weird mesh of the Eldar and the Space Marines. Mostly because they have the moveability and lightness of the Eldar, but the shootie-ness (is that even a word?) of the Space Marines. The one thing that they really do not do is hand to hand. They are very much a run and gun army. I’m thinking the Tyranids would rip them up. Mostly because my friend loves to play the “overwhelming numbers of infernal running doom” army. Ooo! it is so evil sometimes. Ick. I don’t think I’ve ever beat his Tyranid army. Although I still hold the honor of being the only one to have taken out a Carnifix with a standard weapon. Granted it was a missile launcher . . . but it wasn’t a vortex grenade. ^_^ Heh. My Eldar’s one claim to fame. But I digress.

We also got in a few rounds of Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2. It’s fun. It plays just like the first one but the graphics got a boost and the character base is much bigger. Plus I now have a chance to play as Buu! w00t! Donno why but I liked that guy. although my all time fave Z fighter is Krillin. Go mini shoulin butt kicking power! Maybe I just like the fact that the little guy kicks butt. Either way it’s a fun game. Even though it still doesn’t have a frigging jump! Gah! Would jump be so hard to add?!

Then we played as one team on NCAA Game Breaker. The game is old and kinda flawed, but in the third game we actually won! Then we all celebrated like a bunch of gamer nerds but so what! It was cool! We finally beat the damned cheating’ AI. Not that the AI actually cheats but it’s so perfect that it might as well have been cheating.

We finished the night with Sceneit! It’s a movie trivia game that is astonishingly difficult and fun! Although my team never won but . . . eh. The worst was that my friends kept getting the questions that I could actually answer and then we would get these odd weird and obscure questions about movies neither of us have seen. Ugh. That sucked but it was fun nonetheless. Go out and try it.!

Well it was Christmas today! Hurray! I got an iPod! w00t!! Well I don’t actuallly have it yet, apparently they were out of stock but I will have one once they get’em back in! w00t! I also got to hang out with my family. We had several other people from church and the area in for Christmas dinner. Then we all just sort chilled at the building. We played a dice game called Bunco. it’s silly, odd, and strangely additicting. It a rather ‘mindless” game but it is really fun. Then we played a game called Phase 10 it’s a card game that feels a bit like rummy. The difference being that you have pre defined goals and a little card which tells you what they are. It took me 2 hours and some odd minutes to finally break out of phase one. We stopped then. Which was fine by me. It is fun but I lost big time. I was second highest in score (which is a bad thing, the scoring is a little like golf or hearts) and I was still in phase one. Ugh. But it is also an addicting and fun game. Now I go to bed. My Dad is taking the first flight out to Texas to give his brother a surprise birthday. The flgiht leaves at 6:30! ::groan:: Sleep. Oh well. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Now go and get ready for New Years! Hurray!

Take care all!

Oh yah. I was supposed to gush about LOTR: ROTK (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.) You know it’s nerdy geek talk when it’s in acronyms. Just look at any game magazine and you’ll see. Every game title is an acronym. But that’s beside the point.
The other sub title of this film could have been “represent”; ’cause everyone and their uncle kicks tail and takes names! I won’t tell too much because you all need to go see it but, W00t! Legolas! w00t!w00t! So what if he’s a pretty boy elf that no real life man could measure up to; He lays the smack down! And who wouldn’t want his +14 in Dexterity? My elf characters would be neigh untouchable with that! heh reminds me in my friends Sovereign Stone campaign I’m working on making a Legolas-esque character! Whew I’m all over the place today.

But GO SEE Return of the King! It is soooooo worth the price of admission. Yes, even the ungodly 9 bucks of full admission! Okay I’ll admit although I’m a guy I’m a elf fanboy. Mostly because I like to dream that one day I’ll be that cool. But as it is . . . I’m just another weird geek. Oh well. ^_^ Take care.

Happy Holidays!

December 21, 2003

Hey all! Okay Here’s my plan for break.

  1. Do paintings for Christmas presents.

  2. Get final designs ready for webComic consumption.
  3. Get my first month of my comic penciled and inked (I’m planning on a weekly update schedule so hopefully when school starts again I’ll still be able to keep it up. ::crosses fingers: :)
  4. Get the first two weeks colored.

  5. Get at least two months penciled (yeh I’m thinking it’s social suicide)
  6. Set up the Keenspace site, ready and running
  7. Set up a secondary art blog. Which will be linked from this one.

I know it’s kind of a biiiiiiig goal. But if I can get one month ready I’ll be happy. After that my plan is to:

  • write on Monday
  • Pencil on Tuesday,
  • Ink on Wednesday,
  • Color on Thursaday,
  • and (if all goes according to plan) on Friday you’ll have a comic!

Huzzah! w00t! And all that.

Yesterday I went to see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King! OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG! ::falls on floor drooling:: It’s reallllllllllllly cool. This was possbily the best of the three! Mostly because all the best elements of the films come together! And these films have set a new level of quality for CGI integration with live action. ILM really is going to have to pick up the pace to get regain their throne. I’ll gush more later. Now I must review for my final at 4. Later all.
