Well today has been nice. No pressing deadlines. No homework due. I got to wake up late and enjoy a nice long shower! Yay! Hm. No big events. But I did watch The Screen Savers! I love that show. Today was espeically cool since it was the concluding day of Space Weeeeek! >note: please read the preceeding phrase in an over the top TV announcer voiceWill Wheaton was on. He was on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Anyway the really cool bit was he interviewed the people over at JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory). They are the ones controling the Mars rovers! It’s very geeky and extremely cool! We also got to see the preliminary work on Yoshi’s latest mod. He’s making a fully custom comptuer. It should be pretty sweet! He’s making a rocket shaped case! w00t!

Oh! I was watching Kim Possible today. And one of the lead bad guys was voiced by the guy who does Zim on Invader Zim! Another show I dearly love! Gir is the best! He’s my hero! Booorrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiittooooooooooooooooooooooos!! hee hee hee. ^^; I’m running! I’m running! >bongbong

Ugh! I am so bored. I have two hours to kill till my next class. This wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that I’ve already done that today. -.-;; This is the one downside to the first week of the semester. Well I’m off to draw or something. Ugh. I am not in the mood to draw. I feel mentaly drained trying to find things to do to fill my time. Oh wel it could be worse. I’m really not complaining that loudly am I? Take care all.

Well today was nicely uneventful. I got to my first class without problem and then I got to hang out with one of the friends I made last semester. Atcually I bumped into nearly 6 people I’d meet last semester. 4 of them are in the painting class I am also taking. I guess that is tobe expected since they took painting 1 with me, and there is only one section of painting 2. Still it was fun to see them again. ^_^

Then I went to buy supplies. And I got a parking ticket! ::mutter grumble complain:: Oh well. It would seem that the parking spot that I have used in the past for Utrecht is on a limited time space. Bugger. Can’t be helped but it’s a friggin 50 buck fine! YIIIIKES! That and I spent a bunch of buxxors on art supplies! Aiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeee! What to do? Stupid stupid parking in SF. What does it have to be such a pain in the butt?! It’s not enough that driving around downtown is the gateway to one of the rings of Hell. Oh no! The Devil reallly likes to give it to us by making parking an exercise in ’sharking’. Where you circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle circle “Ooo! A spot!” and then pray like mad that no one else sees it first. But invariably someone does and then you start the whole process over again! ::sigh:: At least I got it done. Stupid stupid parking things! Best of luck to all the rest of you in or heading back to school!

Well school starts again tomorrow. Hurray. Actually I am kinda glad. I have been rather tired of sitting on my lazy back side for most of the month. My painting area in the garage is clean again, my car is mostly clean, and my room is clean and re ordered. Yet I completely missed getting any of my proposed art projects done. ::sigh:: Shame on me. Oh well. Maybe over the semester I’ll find myself motivated enough to get my butt in gear. I’ll give you all a little more 411 after school tomorrow. Heh. I’ll probably use a few of my remaining hours of freedom to get some more hours on Vagrant Story in. Gotta love tactical action combat, that still has some of the strategy of a turn based RPG. It’s a wild mix that is hella fun! Go buy or rent it today! Yay SquareSoft! (they made it before they merged with Enix to make Square Enix, which is an RPG fan boy’s wet dream) Okay later all!

Truth. Reality. The words seem interchangeable, but they aren’t. Reality may not be truth. However truth is always reality. Some might even say that truth transends reality. That makes a degree of sense. For something to be true it must always be correct. So it would follow that truth is higher than reality. So that begs the question, What is truth? Is truth actually atainalbe? And if it is do you really want it? Because once you have truth there is no going back. Despite what The Matrix says there is no going back. You cannot un-know truth. That is the nature of truth it is well true. Once you have this to go back to the lie is impossible. You can abandon truth but you cannot un-know it. It will always nag at the back of your mind. “Like a splinter in your mind. Slowly driving you mad.”

Not much to report today. Today was pretty easy going. I woke up late. Don’t know why. Not really complaining either. but still. Oh well.

Linux on my old iMac is proving difficult. The auto detection in Yellow Dog Linux, which is based on RedHat, keeps giving me bad values. I donno what’s up. Now I’m gonna have to crack open the X server and mess with the settings. Or I could use another 45 -50 min. of my life reinstalling it . . . again. Bah. I think I’ll just get my hands dirty and do in in the text mode. Yep. Command line editing! w00t! Nuthin’ says geek like command line editing. ::sigh:: Although it does rather preclude that my visibility to the female population of this sorry little planet just went to an even lower low. ::sigh:: Well can’t be helped. I’m a geek. Soon to be a full blown Linux geek. Kinda scary. Heh all I need now is to put my penguin plushie on top of my iMac and call him Tux. Which for those who don’t know is mascot for Linux in general. Each of the distributions of Linux have their own mascot but the general community rallies around Tux the penguin.

For some reason I think of Fight Club. “Find your spirit animal.” Penguin says, “Slide!” and then slides away. ^_^ I love that movie. A bizarre blend of hilarity and sobriety. Plus it gave me so much more respect for Brad Pitt as an actor. My favorite line is the one where Edward Norton has finally found out that Tyler is just in his head, and yet when the opportunity comes he takes a shot at him while he is standing in front of the van full of nitro. Tyler screams, “Whoa! Whoa! What do you think you are doing? You are shooting your gun, at your invisible friend who is standing in front of a van full of nitroglycerin!” That and “You met me at a very strange point in my life.” My faves. Oh and the whole section about him as different people’s body parts. That was great. The movie is such an enthralling and odd experience that it really must be seen. Just be prepared for some pretty brutal fight scenes, oh and some harsh language.

Yes, I am a FLCL (Fooly Cooly) and Pillows fan. But this is also a tribute to a friend. ^_~ I’m sure that person knows who they are.

I’m actually feeling pretty good. Hurray! Maybe because I’m watching XPlay on TechTV. Which brings me to the “happier” section of today’s little blogging: the show, Totally Spies.

When it first came out I wanted to like it. Really. I was hoping it would be an animated version of She Spies. It was one of those weekend evening “it’s entertaing and there is nothing else worth watching on TV” fare. I like it. It was silly and funny and ultimately fun. Totally Spies on the other hand is neither. Well no it is silly. But it tends to miss the funny and fun factor.
Here’s the skinny. Three high school girls from Beverly Hill’s High have been drafted by the government as speical agents. Already it’s on shaky ground. Then you see their field equipment. Oh dear lord it’s all pink!! No self respecting builder would put pink on field issue equipment. Another thing that rather annoys me is that is is an anime wanabe. It almost makes it. But some of the animation is not up to anime standards. Also the expressions and the actions seem sorta slapped on sometimes. Plus they all seem to suffer from the ‘Barbi’ complex. So when ever they get dirty they complian. But I’ll give them credit for at least ceasing their whining to get the job finished. But their enemies are . . . well . . . kinda lame. One of the most recently that I glimpsed was using genetics to create humanoid animals so that she could make seemless fur coats. An interesting plot idea plus it allowed the animators the chance to draw cute cat girls that are ubiquitous in anime. Yet they missed the charm and kawaii-ness (translate cuteness) that make characters like Digi-Carat such a hit. So it’s okay for those who expect nothing out of television. Sadly I see the potential that this show might have had and neve lived up to.

A show that hits more closely to the mark is Kim Possible on Disney. Her tech is not possible but at least it makes more sense than putting a communicator in compact. Besides Ron, her trusty friend, is much more likeable. Even if Ron does play the ‘damsle in distress’. Despite that they made Ron the ‘idot sidekick’ he has eveolved and grown as the show has gone on and now is actually a fairly viable character with some distinctive amouts of oblivion. But then again that’s why we like him. He’s much more like us than most of use would care to admit to.

Kim is cool too. She is very much the image of the ‘liberated woman’. Being a woman in a classically male possition. She takes to it pretty well. She is very calm and quite capable. After all her last name is Possible. ^_^ Her character has had a less drastic evolution since she was pretty well set at the beginning of the show. But she always comes though with the help of Ron and her friends. Overall it is silly but fun. So it still recommend it for viewing. That’s all for now. Go watch some animation.
