A Geekish View of Life

Cartoon Network’s block of anime and mature themed shows the [adult swim] has no shame. They also seem to have a hell of a lotta fun. Tonigh for no apparent reason they drew mustashes and glasses over characters in the shows. Not all the time but there are moments. It made it really hard to watch “Winter Night Phantom” episode of Big O. It is supposed to be dramatic and sorta pensive and meloncholy. But the stupid mustashes and glasses kept cracking me up and completely ruining the mood of the piece. ::sigh:: Oh well. It’s still one of the better episodes. Just damned hard to watch when the key image of a red balloon has a mustash on it most of the time. ^_^

I’m sure some of you have heard that the bundled iPod earphones are bad. This is only partly true. The sound quality is nice, good highs and decent lows. The best sounding bundled earbuds that I know of. But the damn things are uncomfortable! They are really friggin big! I wouldn’t mind if they were molded a bit better but the hurt. In terms of comfort I put them up with the original XBox controler in ‘nice-but-not-for-me’ catagory, damn controler made my hands cramp from trying to play JetSet Radio Future. Although with the pads they aren’t so bad. Its their one saving grace. This is not to knock Apple or the iPod, but it is something to keep in mind. Most peopele will probably get a new set of headphones or use the pads, which sorta conflict with the nice white and silver style. But Black does make a nice accent. Well that’s the latest news from my little iPod world. ^_^ I love it! ::huggs iPod::

It’s 2:38 in the morning. Why am I still awake. Becuse I’m a hopeless little geek dork that just had to play with his new iPod. It’s Christmas, albit 3 months late. But it’s the one I really wanted! 20 GB iPod w/ dock and remote! w00t! I’m such a nerd. Okay. Go sleep now. Please don’t make too much fun of me. ^_~

China, as many of you may know, is one of the few remaining communist governments. It is also know for a rather flegrant disregard for human rights issues. But in recent years the internet has been moving in China and growing very quickly. With the open discussion and, with the proper tools, untraceable accounts many Chinese have been using it to crititise or expose problems in the government. But the government wasn’t going to take it lying down. First they made it so internet cafes could not be set up near schools, so the minds of the young would remain ‘pure’. Now they are blocking sites/blogs from within the country. [news story][slashdot article] This is a sad state of affairs. I pray this ends quickly.

I gots me an iPod! w00t! But sadly I must wait till tomorrow to open it. I have to finish this bugger of a Mid-term essay first. Meh!

That’s right ladies. Nice guys are not good by default. The two should not be confused. A Good guy will do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. The Nice guy may do the right thing but he is more likely to do the pleasant or nice one because he is too afraid of being rejected for doing the right thing. Nice guys are nice but good guys are better. Don’t settle for nice, go for good!

Again Nice ≠ Good

It’s kinda funny to be on vacation and sorta miss school. I admit I really don’t miss the classes so much as the people. There is something wonderfully social about school. Also the people there are so diverse. When you get into the work world things seem to get rather homogeneous and rather bland. I really hope that doesn’t happen to me. Ick. I’d really hate working for just a pay check.

Okay. Time for sleep, while I download more episodes of Gun Grave! w00t! Hurray for Syndicate crime dramas! Now things are getting interesting, the story is moving from pure back story to almost the world that we saw in episode 1. Can’t wait to see Brandon Heat lay some smack down on these reanimated goons!

This is a nit pik by me and should be viewed as such.

I love anime and the anime style but there is one thing that’s been cropping up more and more often that just sorta rubs me the wrong way.

It’s this: The eye should not be seen through the hair!

If there is a gap in the hair fine. But hair is friggin’ opaque! You can’t see through it. Argh! This shouldn’t bother me but it does. It’s really a small thing and a minor quible. But to me it says “Lazy artist”. A guy who can’t be bothered to erase or not ink the parts covered by the hair. Granted human error always creeps in but for crying out loud, it shouldn’t be so common. It has been going on so long that it’s practically part of the style as a whole. I think that’s what bothers me more than anything else. If only a few people did it or it showed up every now a then in specific anime, but it seems like it’s friggin every where! ::huff puff huff puff:: :: climbs down of rant box::

Sorry about that. I just needed to get that off my chest. It’s been bugging me recently and now I’ve said my peace.

I’m watching the Gun Grave fan subs, It’s pretty cool, but is it just me or is Brandon (the main char) almost as silent as Squall from FF8? WTH?! You’d think a main char would have more than one line an episode. Well it’s still good. ^_^ Go get it!

Yep. The first offical day of Spring Break! w007! Read my comics. Watched TV and was generally lazy all day long! Ah. It’s good to be the king. ^_^ But tomorrow I start back to being “productive” again. I need to get my mom’s laptop running again and then work on my essay for Film & Anthropology. It shouldn’t be too hard to come up with 7 pages of stuff. But it’s gotta be done my Sunday. Because class is on Monday. Well more tomorrow then. ::sigh:: I have computers to fix, papers to write and phone calls to make. But at least the phone calls will be fun. ^_^
