[Listening to: Amazing - Andy Hunter - Simply Groovy (4:59)]

Bamboo is usually a tall, graceful plant that has inspired artist of all types to ponder and examine its beauty. I am one of them. That was till it tried to turn my backyard into a bamboo forest. It sounds nice in theory and it wouldn’t be so bad except . . . my backyard is not a bamboo forest. I don’t own pandas and I have no way of controlling its growth. With most trees it is a relatively simple matter to get rid of them. Chop them up and grind up the root. Bamboo ain’t that easy. No. It has to be like the Aspen tree, meaning that it spreads by sending out roots that turn into new trees a certain points. This means that it is one frigging’ huge root! And the darn stuff is tough! It does not go down easy. When you do manage to clear a spot the stuff grows back almost as fast as you cut it down. To further the aggravation if you cut and spray vegetation killer on it it just kills that nodule off and starts growing from below it! Argh! Stupid segmented plant! Actually it is a beautiful tree that is very hearty. Normally I would extol its virtues but not when it is trying to take over like a bad rash. One gains a much stronger appreciation for the Asian bamboo forests after trying to take the stuff out by hand.

[Listening to: Where Is My Mind? - The Pixies - Fight Club OST (3:46)]

I’m finding it hard to think and concentrate in recent days. I think I know who to “blame” for this, and I ain’t gonna because that would imply that I don’t like it, which is not the case. I enjoy it greatly. Although it is a really new experience for me and honestly has me rather scared.

Is it really supposed to be like this? She touches you on your back and you feel a heat generate on your chest? Thoughts and words garbled long before they reach the lips? Confusing the eye color because to you they glow?

Hmmm. ::looks back over last few sentences:: Geez. I’m such a dork. Hopeless fool. ::sigh:: -_-;; Baka. Baka! Baka! Baka! (that’s Japanese for fool or idiot) Ugh. Life is never simple and now I’ve made it really complicated. Or maybe my inner critic is working overtime. Well he does that already so he must have hired more crew. Great just what I need, more efficient inner criticism. Bah! Humbug. ^_~ Well this is supposed to be about the things I’m interested in. Currently it’s kinda single tracked . . . well I guess that’s the be expected. I’m gonna stop now since I’m not really making much sense anymore. Take care.

Today

April 8, 2004

Well today went better than yesterday. More sleep does wonders. I slept in till almost 11, which also almost made me late for class. But it was okay in the end.
I’m going to the MOMA tomorrow…er today. Yay. That’s the SFMoMA, just so there’s no confusion. That should be fun. Plus I’m going with my firend from my painting classes, yeah she’s in both. It’s kinda funky. Sorta like way back when, when every one was in one class room all day. Normally I see people maybe twice a week. So iIt’s nice. NO compliants. Should be fun. Friends and art, there’s little else to want out of life. Okay okay food is good too. Friends, art, and food.

Figure painting class, a challenge under under normal conditions but compouned by lack of sleep make for interesting times. I don’t regret it though. I got to talk with one of my really good friends. ^_^ (if you’re reading this, don’t you feel the least bit guilty) The down side of it was that we talked till about 3 am, and I had to get up at 6 for class. Yay. Wait I mean Boooo! See. I’m a little run down now . . . as if I wasn’t earlier, so now I’m going to bed. G’night. Take care all!

Slash dot and things

April 6, 2004

I am a big fan of a site called Slashdot: News for Nerds. It is quite the repositiory of interesting an sometimes usless information. ^_^ Currently there is a thread that has my eye. It is about the revitalizing of Farscape on the Sci Fi Channel. If any of you watched the show it was truely one of the great sci fi series. If you haven’t seen it they do show the reruns, but make sure you try to watch them in series because they often used longer story arcs, meaning an overarching plot would tie together several episodes. This gave the show a nice sense of depth and plausability that many sci fi shows don’t have, ie Voyager or Enterprise. But how can sci fi be plausible? It takes the concepts and says “Well what if they really work?” Then moves on as if they did. It might seem like that would be a reason to not find it plausible but the way they apply the theorys are really quite facianting and believeable. I love the inclusion of the organic ships. Long live Moya. The universe is not in perfect balance, there are power struggles between the dominate races of the area and what John’s knowledge of wormholes means to them. The whole thing makes a wonderful package much like the first few seasons of Babylon 5.

But to get back on point, the Sci Fi Channel is going to show a 4 part mini series that will close off the Farscape universe. At least that’s what I’ve been hearing. There is a claim that it will return as a regular series, which I am all for. There has been plenty of fan outcry for it. The fans of Farscape are a whole new level of devotee. They even put some anime freaks in their place. For example my friend is a huge huge Farscape fan. When it was on you always knew where to find her on Friday’s at 9 pm pst. One time I had called her on the phone and as we talked it was time for her show. She tried to convience me that she could talk to me and watch Farscape. After a few mintues of long pauses between answers and a couple of “I’m sorry what was that again?” I told her I’d call her back after Farscape. This is not a ‘hate’ on her, it is simply a testament to the quality of the series. I haven’t seen enough episodes to call myself a fan but I do like the show and would like to see it come back.

Similarly, Firefly, formally on Fox, has been murmured to be making a return. I never saw the show so I have little to say on the matter. One of my friends, Bane, really loves it, but there is a fair amout of displeasure with it too. To me this says it’s a ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ show. It doesn’t seem to have much middle ground. The premise is interesting, no aliens just humanity spreading its existance to other colony planets. It looked pretty interesting. It comes from the mind of Josh Whedon, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fame. So it should be worth a look. The first season is avaliable on DVD. If you like it I’m sure there is a group you can join to tell the execs that you want it back. I know there is a very large one for Farscape.

That’s all for now. Take care.

In-Dash PC - Dashwerks Carputer Telematics Software
For every commuting geek and those who just want the make the drive a little more fun!

I have but a coursery knowledge of dating and relationships. Most of that come to me second hand too. Although most of it came from my female friends so it usually came in the “Don’t ever do this” kind of way, although more often they were a little more gentle about it. I try to take the advice to heart. But being male, testosterone tends to make me stupid sometimes. The rest of the time I have no excuse. ^_~ ::yuk yuk yuk :: But seriously. This whole relationship stuff is weird man. I don’t know what to make of it. None of the advice I’ve gotten so far covers this beginning stuff. ::sigh:: Oh, well. I guess I’ll do what I usually do, make it up as I go along. ::looks up to Heaven:: Please help me not to make a jibbering idiot of my self. Well any more of a jibbering idiot that I am already.

In othe news, Hellboy opens this weekend. w00t! Hurray for Mike Mignolia. I really hope it is good. Hellboy deserves it.

I saw Secret Window on Tuesday. It’s pretty good. Quite creepy and very classic Stephen King. I liked it. Sadly I guessed the kicker detail before the end of the movie but it was still well done. Jhonny Depp was fantastic, as always. I’d go into it but the plot is kinda involved. But the ending is not what you might expect. It kinda reminds me of Edger Allen Poe a little. All around good stuff, in a creepy sinister kind of way. I’d give it a 7 out of 10. (I’d put it higher but I guessed the end too soon.)

Figgered it out.

Okay. I figured out why the mustashes were all over [adult swim]. It was their April Fools joke. ^_^ Ha ha ha.
